The development of artificial intelligence, and other technological devices is driving significant transformation within our libidinal and social spaces. Further, we are participant in utilising AI and other technologies to generate and mediate the foundations upon which the subject speaks. The 2026 Conference of the CLA asks about the interface between technologies and psychoanalysis today.
These papers are focused on the clinic, which consider some of the technologies used in psychoanalysis. The digital environment demands an interrogation of the technologies used in the praxis of psychoanalysis. These include technologies of the voice, the ear and the couch. We invite psychoanalytic explorations of the relation between technologies and the clinic. These technologies have the potential to radically alter the ways in which psychoanalysis is practiced. As well, the transmission of the praxis of psychoanalysis has both permeated and extended the possibilities for this transmission
